Golden, British Columbia Ski Packages

Golden British ColumbiaFor a long time Golden was simply a pit stop on the way to one of the six national parks that surround it. Now, the treasures of the town are hidden no more, as people have discovered Golden's abundant outdoor recreation potential. The mountain town's ideal location amid half a dozen of Canada's premier ski destinations makes it an attractive option for convenience alone, but the town and its magnificent views offer even more reason to visit Golden.

Natural Beauty

Due to its slow steady growth, tourism in Golden has developed ecologically. Great care is taken by residents and local travel guides to ensure preservation of the natural environment in an effort to balance the effects of inviting people from all over the world to experience the unique flora, fauna and landscape of the Canadian Rockies. Nearby parks, including Banff, Glacier National Park, Jasper, Kootenay Lake, Mount Revelstoke and Yoho, are immensely popular but can be somewhat hectic at times. During peak tourist seasons, people who prefer to avoid line ups and crowds often chose the town of Golden as a viable alternative to the big parks.

Powder Mountain

The main mountain in Golden, Kicking Horse Mountain (summit 5340 ft), recently made Ski Magazine's list of top 5 areas for ski and snowboarding powder in North America. Plus, it has the second longest vertical drop in the country, which is saying something because Canada is known for its long drops! The resort that sits at the base of the mountain lacks for nothing in amenities but if cozy is more your style there are also a variety of B&Bs available in the town. If it's seclusion you seek, Golden has several accommodations located directly on the mountain. Most of those are accessible only by helicopter.
